Tisha b’Av, the 9th day of the Hebrew month of Av, begins at sunset Monday, July 31st, 2017, in 5777.
It is considered to be spiritually a “dry period”, meaning that less is available from above.
This period in the past was filled with many sad events for the Jewish people: the destruction of both Temples, the expulsion of Jews from Spain, and more.
The question for me is how to look at this special time again, this year? What is different? After all, we live in times of g’ullah / redemption, which is filled with help.
I was taught by Rabbi Omer-Man that the mourning is really over the loss of our connection to holiness and that we need to see our tenancy to skip mourning and begin to rebuild once again.
When we say Kadosh. Kadosh. Kadosh! “Holy! Holy! Holy! The entire earth is being filled with His glory” … How can I experience this truth?
So many have no idea what is holiness. How to feel it, align with it, create it or draw it back into our lives.
I wish for us a day of contemplation over these questions and may our honest yearning to align back to holiness be fulfilled.
